About Us
Bobby Lawrence Karate (BLK) is a powerful and progressive system of karate rooted in tradition and driven by leadership. Founded by Grandmaster Bobby Lawrence, who has trained for over 40 years, BLK blends time honored martial arts with modern innovation to develop confident, capable leaders. While our techniques are dynamic and effective, our primary goal has always been leadership development. Martial arts is the vehicle we use to teach it.
Grandmaster Lawrence deeply respects his lineage and proudly credits his three primary teachers, Sifu Chen, Master Callahan, and Ed Parker Sr.. He began teaching karate in Utah in 1978, earned his Master recognition in 1994 from Master Callahan, and was formally recognized as a Grandmaster in 2021. His lifelong commitment to growth, humility, and excellence defines the heart of BLK.
Bobby Lawrence Karate is an eclectic fusion of traditional Japanese Karate, American Kenpo Karate, American Sport Karate, modern MMA concepts, and the groundwork of Jiu Jitsu. This unique blend is intentionally designed to challenge students physically and mentally while building discipline, confidence, and strong leadership habits. At BLK, students do not just learn how to move, they learn how to lead with purpose, integrity, and confidence in every area of life.

Led by Grandmaster Bobby Lawrence, alongside his wife Charlene and sons Justus and Dallas, the Lawrence family represents excellence in both martial arts and leadership. Each has earned advanced black belt ranks and claimed state, national, and even world titles in Sport Karate. What truly sets them apart, however, is not the trophies, but their passion for developing strong, confident leaders through the discipline of karate.
